Electron Deception hits it BIG.

We played at the Sego Music Festival in Provo yesterday. It was a good time! Beautiful weather and setting. I would definitely do it again!

Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies...

How is the Autumn treating you? (also, let's give the credit to Chelsea M. for these photos, she documented the hike we went on on Friday. Grueling, but lovely, nonetheless.)

Beat it...yeah.

This morning at 8:05 am I was chased by a dog. (photo pictured above is a simulation) I saw a brown medium sized dog nosing it's way along a country road as I ambled by on my bicycle. Then I saw its little red eyes engage with the rotation of my bike pedals, and it was off. It bolted after me with wild canine fury. It's seventeen rows of razor sharp teeth glistened in the light of the early dawn. I think I caught a glimpse of a forked tail. All I could do was pedal faster and faster (my water bottle was empty so I couldn't spray it) and YELL. I yelled at it for all I worth. First I screamed "Beat it!" Then came "Get away from me!" finally I gave it a stern and breathy "Go home." In the end I was saved by my own adrenaline induced super cycling speed. I simply out-cycled him and he veered off, realizing he was no match for me.

Yet again, ANOTHER reason I hate dogs.

Project Central

Chelsea's making baskets.
This is a couch pillow I made while in Idaho. My mom hates it. I can see how it's not very pleasant or welcoming (something about the teeth?). My mom and I have had this conversation before about why I can't make "nice" things? Which reminds me of something I read written by the poet Susan Wood:

Shortly after I started writing poems as a college student, my mother said to someone, "Why can't she write happy poems?" Well, Mother, if you're out there somewhere, I can. We all grow up.

I think we're all waiting for me to grow up, but in the meantime I'm going to enjoy those "scary" teeth.

This is a bag I made to fit under my bike seat.
And here are my new bike shoes! I will have to photograph myself in the whole get-up. I feel like I'm turning into John Fox with all this bike gear I'm accumulating.

Keeping My Day Job.

I play bass in a band now. We're called "Electron Deception." We're playing Saturday, September 27 at 5:15pm at the Sego Music Festival in Provo. We have a song about rats and raindrops, Godzilla, and an owl, just to mention a few. This is a good band for me, we never play a song the same way twice!

Sweet Do's (and Do Not's)

Seems all my sisters are doing it. I think I may be the only one to have put my face in the boy pictures though. www.yearbookyourself.com Whaddaya think?
