More Stuff...end of semester

the top picture is MJ (That's either Michael Jackson or Mary Jane). The middle is a small bride and groom cake topper (notice how the groom can't stand up straight for the bride's dress-get used to it), and lastly, this is the new doll I purchased, she's pretty RAD, she might have given a generous donation to fund the Gordon B. Hinckley building pictured in the background. She just seems the type.

new girl in town

Burning Mustaches

This mustache burns outside the Museum of Art on campus. It is part of a portrait themed show in the museum. I really like it, so I thought I'd share it with the world on the world wide web.

Meet Jane:

The last picture is so you can see the scale of this painting. After trying to fanagle it so my camera would take a picture of me AND Jane without cutting my head off, I decided to kneel down and put my head near the ground, hence the weird pose. If you send me 5,000 dollars I will make you your own Jane. :) ha. it would be nice to make money off my art...someday.

Sneaky Peaky

Peeking in through the window.
Honey, I'm home! This is my "doll house" installation. sorry for the blur, it was very dark. This show won't go up until February, but it doesn't hurt to be ready. The opening reception will be Feb. 5, 2010. Yeehaw!

getting gigs

Brian got us this gig at pirate island in orem. it is a glorifed chuck e. cheese pirate pizza parlor. we played for 45 minutes. people ate pizza. our friends cheered and clapped hands and one lone man in a booth kept yelling piratey things at us. we are thinking of becoming wedding singers. when we talk and scheme about it it sounds like something out of white christmas:
                                     BOB
(Into phone)
Relax... I didn't ask you how much
it'll cost us...
(We hear an excited
high voice on the
phone)
Easy, easy, remember your blood
pressure... I don't care how much
it'll cost us... That's better...
Have everybody on the train first
thing in the morning. The whole
Troupe, and the scenery, and the
costumes... You'll have to cancel us
off the Ed Harrison Show... Oscar,
remember your blood pressure.
Incidentally, how much will this
cost?
(He hears some figure. -
It obviously is a
very large number)
Good night, Oscar.
(He hangs up)
There you are.

ciderlicious

Making cider at my professor's house, building the kingdom one jug of cider at a time.
Below are some of the ceramic pieces I've been working on.

General Conference: We munched on the "dumpster cake" all through conference. Eric spotted it in practically pristine condition cradled in it's cardboard pastry box inside the Provo Bakery dumpster. We fished it out and it was an instant hit.

go to sleep you little baby

i made two of these quilts and sent them off to my friends with "babies on board." i love making little quilts, they don't take so dang long. it was fun, i'm glad for new babies... i'm glad for old babies.

A sad farewell

chelsea and i said our last goodbyes to rhett a few days ago. my friend and bandmate has moved on to the big city. he moved to southern california for a new start. we are sad to see him go. schmaltzy is sad because schmaltzy doesn't exist anymore. rhett and i had a beautiful relationship, he wrote great songs and i sang them. i have been listening to our music for the past two days, mourning the loss. i know he hasn't died, but he doesn't live around the corner from me anymore. he makes great steak and mashed potatoes, also a really mean breakfast burrito. he makes great soundtrack music (see my miss emily video) he does a great angel voice (see the goddess barbie video) he is really funny and witty, and has a way of making everyone like him. i miss him already...at least we still have facebook, whaaa.i will close my rhett tribute with the last lyrics he wrote:

i try to say these things to you
but they never end up coming true
what a lost cause
what a long pause

but the public has a different view
so i'll try to hold on to something new
and have my own way
it will be ok

chorus:
i've been longing for some time
to clear the past out of my mind
if only i wasn't so lonely

i'd recognize what's going on
and i'd stop staying up til dawn
if only i wasn't so lonely

2nd verse:
if all these things you say are true
then what am i supposed to do?
sit alone, waiting by the phone

i won't get broken up inside
not even if you decide to go your own way
it will be ok

2nd chorus:
i've been longing for some time
to clear the past out of my mind
if only i wasn't so lonely

i'd recognize what's going on
and i'd stop staying up til dawn
if only i wasn't long gone

rhett wrote a new song, i helped out on the vocals. what do you think? it's our first duet. EVER! (the mix is yet a little rough, excuse us)

Y

and the beat goes on

it's not that this is so interesting, but i haven't posted in a while, so here. Here. this is what i've been doing now that school is in "ramming speed ahead." ben hur.
chocolate cake with sprinkle stripes, sorry for the flash that makes it look gross. click here and scroll down to see the finished wedding cake i made last month.

new etchings of "fashion plates." remember those barbie plastic plates where you rub a crayon over the plate to create different outfits? this is my own wonky version. prints forthcoming.

this is for sarah. see, i painted my bookshelf white. it used to be brown. the brown shelf on brown dresser wasn't looking too good, now i just need to organize the various bits: lipsticks, nail polish and lotions mixed in the same basket as bicycle tubes and patch kits, not good.
lastly, this is the television i bought at "milly's thrift store." it is a tiny sparsely filled thriftstore around the corner from where i used to live. i walked in there and found a friend. "milly" is really "emilia." we hit it off with a shared name and love of e-spanish. the tv is newer looking than what i had hoped for (it's for the art installation i'm making) but i think i can antique it a bit, and change the black fabric on the speakers with a brown or more decorative one. what do you think? how else could i antiquate this television?

also, i don't have pictures- but i've been playing "gigs" every weekend. it is just fun to say.
