Post Valentine's Day Breakdown
This post has no picture. I didn't have a valentine this year, come to think of it, I don't usually. It is 12:52am as I write this, and so take that into consideration with what I am about to say. I'm thinking about the Sam Phillips song that Lauren used to sing as a highschooler "I need love." My valentine's day consisted of working at school in my studio most of the day while it snowed outside. Then in the evening, the band came over and we practiced. At the end of practice all the band members kissed me on the cheek, that was a sweet gesture, but not enough. I just want to express my lack of faith in finding "somebody to love" (thanks Queen). It doesn't feel like a reality for me. All the guys I like don't like me back, and it seems that the only guys that like me are the ones I'm not into. Such is life, it will all work itself out one day right?

Gallery Stroll at Muse Music
Here is the hip and trendy Muse Music cafe: good music, delicious sandwiches, and for the month of February, home to an exhibit of my etchings.
My roommate Chelsea was a dear and helped me hang the show. We hemmed and hawed over the placement of each piece, shuffled and rotated the pictures around to every possible configuration and then decided finally upon the current exhibition. At the last second we realized we needed the gold plastic bird piece to finish the collection off. Big fatty thank you to Chelsea for her patience, aid and relief, and the sugar cookie she brought me from the Provo bakery that morning (pink heart with sprinkles).
Below is my attempt at educating the public on "what is printmaking." I included a large zinc plate and a small copper plate, with the actual prints on paper next to them in the exhibit to show people how the prints were made. There was also a definition of "Intaglio." People seemed to like seeing the "behind the scenes" part of the process at the gallery stroll.
The gallery stroll was so fun! On the first Friday of each month all the downtown galleries and businesses open up and have artists work on display, at each business will be a different artist and some form of a reception, including music, food, free postcards etc. I spent the evening giving away cookies and valentine postcards, and visiting with people. I had forgotten how art is about sharing. Art doesn't really become something until you let others in on it. I usually just enjoy making stuff that's meaningful to myself, but it's much more rewarding to see how other people relate and respond to something that YOU made, and it came out of YOUR crazy head. Thanks to all for your support. I love being an artist.

Basement Band, Ballet, etc.
These are basically my creative projects these days. Electron Deception has 2 concerts this month: the 13th at Muse Music and the 28th at the Pennyroyal cafe, both in Provo. Also, look for me this Friday at Provo's artwalk, I'll be showing some etchings at Music Music! I'll post pictures later so you can feel like you were there.
p.s. it's written somewhere, in some kind of contract that every artist has to got through a leotard and tights phase, male or female, doesn't matter. I'm working through mine right now, obviously.
