Summer Jumble

We just attended the 2013 Bruneel Family Reunion. I got my camera out only once, and these characters are what I happened to catch in evening swims and beach play. The lake was wonderful, refreshing, and my favorite part, as always.
Asher was thrilled to be swimming in "the deep end."
Here's Henry, probably asking, "Where's my mom?" That seems to be a regular conversation with him.
Ruby, the mermaid princess. Note, the pointed toe. I see so much of my younger self in this busy and imaginative girl.
Also, I had  birthday! I'm 31 now. I really just wanted to show you this beautiful carrot cake I made. I sometimes wonder if I can seriously do any better. It was probably the best carrot cake I've ever had. I used my Williams Sonoma recipe and it was dynamo. My friend Leah came over with her two hungry boys to help me and Geoff eat it. In this photo the cake conveniently covers up my baby bump. In case you haven't heard, I'm having a boy due on Thanksgiving day. So everyone come over to my house for Thanksgiving and you can cook me dinner and clean my house. Any takers? :)
Boy number one with his new red school shoes, ready for kindergarten!
Jess and Asher at the only place to go when it's 100 degrees outside and you've got to get your play on.
Here we all are! Jess doesn't look very happy. Could it be because she has a large pregnant woman sitting on her lap while clutching a 50 pound ogre boy?

You look so beautiful! I love you sitting with the cake you made. You look tan, the blue color is so nice on you, and I love you so...its hard to have bad feelings when I see you pregnant! :) Thanksgiving!...You can call him Charlie...then it will be Charlie King's Thanksgiving...instead of Brown's. (Dumb...sorry) Anyway, i made my 30th b-day cake this year too. I didn't want anyone to mess it up. (I haven't tried William Sonom'a Carrot Cake recipe, but Pioneer Womans' is my go to one and its very good as well. If you make it, tell me which you think is better.
