Sweet Sarah

Sarah taught me how to make caramels and temper chocolate. We made peanut butter cups, caramels, and coconut filled chocolates. We found these cool papers at a candy making store in Cleveland, so fun!

baby Miles

I told S and T today that I should win an Auntie award today. "Baby Miles," as Lucy calls him, seems to think I'm his body pillow. He hushes right up the moment I pick him up and is soon fast asleep, his ten pound body a dead weight in my arms. At first I was flattered and amazed at my "baby quieting" skills, but the thrill and wonderment of new tricks I never knew I possessed is starting to wear off. :) Next time I hold him I'll just dedicate a few moments out to each of you who wish you could spend your holiday with a lovely 5 week old baby!

It's Your Birthday, Darling!

Galen Dunn, a guest blogger to Fox in Sox, has composed this Birthday poem for Lauren:

Lovely-luscious
Adorable
Unreserved
Riveting
Euphoric
Nirvana

Emily is offering this Birthday poem:

I made you a little denim backpack with ribbon roses and rhinestones decorating the face when I was twelve. It was really cute, but you didn't like it that much, yet you took it to school anyway.

Lauren, you are a Rockstar. And a talented, pretty woman. You have a really, really cute daughter who I love. Who has the best kissable cheeks. I hope all your dreams come TRUE.
Love you,
Emily

My Ma

My sisters always outdo me, they posted some really heartwarming birthday blogs, but we can never say enough about this fabulous woman. Happy Birthday Mom! This is the lady who used to draw little faces on cardboard then glue it on a popsicle stick for me to play with. I would take naps with her when I was 4 and she EVEN let me wrap my little legs around hers (I KNOW she thought it was annoying, but she let me.) When I'm lucky, she lets me in on her personal time of morning jogs and bike-rides. When I had just gotten home from my mission and had no clothes (and was really stingy) she took me shopping and bought me nice clothes. She still buys me nice clothes. Last Christmas she humored me by going with me to the free-trade-fair-game-green-and-bio-everything+hippy chocolate factory in Seattle. She is a steady friend, and a mother with unconditional love for all her children. When you talk with her on the phone, you REALLY DO feel like you're an only child. Happy Birthday!and what about all those dang buns she had to bobby pin in place in a mad rush before dance practice? Can I ever thank you enough Mom?

Like Father Like Daughter: Doctors Fox

I did a very technical cosmetic glitter application this afternoon to my patient/creation. She is about to undergo some more operations to attach her head to a body, which I have yet to concoct. What's a good name for her?

Electron Deception makes the Herald

While we didn't win Muse Music's "Battle of the Bands" we still had a great time, and enjoyed playing with the other fabulous bands. We also made the news, check it here!

Electron Deception Plays Muse Music

This Thursday don't miss Electron Deception at Muse Music's Battle of the Bands. 8pm. Be there...or miss out big time. (I think Laura is the only one who looks "band-like" in this photo. We're still getting this "image" thing down. I think it's called "managing your brand.")

a few of my favorite things:

photo shoots with galenhot chocolate with galenknitted scarf from anna roach
galen being galen
and carrot soup with spinach salad and toasted bread with queso fresco melted on top. so delish!
how to make the carrot soup (from my old roommate Vicki):

boil carrots until tender
puree them in a blender
add soy milk to thin it out
add some butter, brown sugar or molasses, a pinch of salt, cinnamon or nutmeg
basically, season it as you like
So Autumn, and so good!

how to be as photogenic as galen: be really tall

how to be cool like me: be a fox. :)
