Here is the hip and trendy Muse Music cafe: good music, delicious sandwiches, and for the month of February, home to an exhibit of my etchings.
My roommate Chelsea was a dear and helped me hang the show. We hemmed and hawed over the placement of each piece, shuffled and rotated the pictures around to every possible configuration and then decided finally upon the current exhibition. At the last second we realized we needed the gold plastic bird piece to finish the collection off. Big fatty thank you to Chelsea for her patience, aid and relief, and the sugar cookie she brought me from the Provo bakery that morning (pink heart with sprinkles).
Below is my attempt at educating the public on "what is printmaking." I included a large zinc plate and a small copper plate, with the actual prints on paper next to them in the exhibit to show people how the prints were made. There was also a definition of "Intaglio." People seemed to like seeing the "behind the scenes" part of the process at the gallery stroll.
The gallery stroll was so fun! On the first Friday of each month all the downtown galleries and businesses open up and have artists work on display, at each business will be a different artist and some form of a reception, including music, food, free postcards etc. I spent the evening giving away cookies and valentine postcards, and visiting with people. I had forgotten how art is about sharing. Art doesn't really become something until you let others in on it. I usually just enjoy making stuff that's meaningful to myself, but it's much more rewarding to see how other people relate and respond to something that YOU made, and it came out of YOUR crazy head. Thanks to all for your support. I love being an artist.

The artwork looks good (the layout and the stuff I can see from the pic)! Wish we were still in Provo to take a stroll looking at your art.
I am so there.
We're coming up presidents day weekend. So prepare for glory!
lovely lovely work em. sure beats three trees, this seems a little more official and way more hip! you look so artsy in your peacoat. loves your way- wish i could stroll on through myself.
Wow, Herman!!! I cannot beLIEVE how long your hair is!!!!
Also this: I miss your face. Let us play sometime soon.
I loved how you displayed your prints. I liked how the prints and frames went well with the wainscoting and beadboard(can you talk them into painting the beadboard some other color than white?:)
I want to come and peruse the exhibit in person. Will Chelsea buy me a pink cookie?
You are such a cool girl, Emily. You are the cool girl from Pasco WA majoring in Art at BYU that I dreamed of when I was the cool girl from Lewiston Ida at BYU majoring in Art.
that's awesome, emily!
I love the grouping! It is really striking and it fits your artwork so well. Nice job (to you and Chelsea of course!) I like the addition of the bird too. It goes well with the rest of the frames and pictures. Wonderful job, as per usual, Emily! (And I like the curl in your hair!)
